Job summary

Academics Agency is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for September across Sheffield's specialist schools, offering meaningful day-to-day impact and a chance to help children thrive.

You'll work 1:1 and in small groups, adapt approaches to each learner, and collaborate with teachers and families to track progress and support EHCPs. DBS required or accessible on request, with weekly pay and CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Qualified or experienced-Level 3 TA or equivalent experience in education, childcare, or health settings.
  • SEN-savvy: supported children with additional needs and know how to adapt, connect, and inspire.
  • Calm under pressure: patient, flexible, and solution-focused when things get tricky.
  • DBS-ready: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or happy to get one fast.
  • Reference-perfect: two strong professional references ready to go.

Responsibilities

  • Be their champion—supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups, building confidence and core skills.
  • Think on your feet—adapting lessons, resources, and approaches for each learner.
  • Turn behaviour into progress using positive, tailored strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and families to track progress and shape EHCPs.
  • Embrace every challenge—from sensory differences to speech delays, meeting each child where they are.
