Job summary

Uniform Education is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Sutton. You will support pupils with SEN, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, and build confidence within a structured environment.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time only, ASAP start. Successful candidates will have prior SEN support experience, an enhanced DBS, and the right to work in the UK.

About the Role

We are looking for a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Sutton.

You will support pupils with a range of special educational needs and learning difficulties, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, and build confidence and independence within a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group SEN support
• Support differentiated and personalised learning activities
• Assist with communication and social development
• Promote confidence, independence and engagement
• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Follow individual EHCP targets and support plans
• Assist with personal care where required
• Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach
• Confidence supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Comfortable supporting personal care where required
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
• Right to Work in the UK

Desirable:

• Previous experience within a specialist SEN school
• Experience supporting ASD, MLD, SLD or PMLD
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, AAC or sensory approaches
• Manual handling / moving and handling experience
