Job summary

Lotus Recruitment Ltd is assisting a Lewisham PRU in recruiting a dedicated SEN Teacher for a long-term, full-time role at a secondary level.

You will support students with SEMH, ASC, ADHD and other needs, delivering engaging lessons in a structured environment and building strong relationships to help learners re-engage with education.

Qualifications

  • QTS/QTLS certification is required.
  • Experience teaching SEN, SEMH or alternative provisions is highly desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to build trust with vulnerable young people.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons for secondary SEN learners.
  • Build positive relationships to re-engage students with education.
  • Create a supportive, structured learning environment.
  • Support SEMH and ASC needs and manage challenging behaviours.
  • Collaborate with staff to tailor interventions and track progress.

SEN Teacher - PRU (Secondary)

Are you a passionate SEN Teacher looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people?

We are working with a well-regarded Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Lewisham that is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teacher to join their team on a long-term basis. This rewarding role involves supporting secondary-aged students who have faced barriers to mainstream education and require additional support to achieve their full potential.

The Role
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Trauma-related needs
  • Additional learning needs

The successful candidate will create engaging lessons, build positive relationships, and help students re-engage with education in a supportive and structured environment.

What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience teaching students with SEN, SEMH, or within alternative provisions is highly desirable
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable young people
