Job summary

The Supply Register is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children in Reception and Year 1 at Upminster Infant School. The role starts in September and is a long-term, full-time position within a dedicated SEN environment.

You will work with teaching staff to support learning, implement IEPs, and help with personal care and classroom resources, contributing to a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
• Understanding of SEND strategies and educational support techniques.
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students with learning, communication, and behavioural needs in line with IEPs.
• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting resources.
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social development.
• Monitor and record student progress and share observations with staff.
• Support students with personal care, as required.
• Prepare classroom resources and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and school activities.
