Job summary

The Supply Register is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join Upminster infant School for a September start. This long-term, full-time position involves supporting children with SEN across reception and year one, helping with IEPs and learning activities.

You will work closely with teachers to adapt resources, reinforce learning, and promote positive behaviour and independent skills in a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN is desirable.
• Understanding SEND strategies and educational support techniques.
• Strong communication, patience and empathy in student support.

Responsibilities

• Support students with learning, communication and behaviour per IEPs.
• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting resources for diverse needs.
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students needing help.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social development.
• Monitor and record student progress and share observations with staff.
• Support with personal care when required.
• Prepare classroom resources and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Participate in team meetings and school activities.
