Job summary

The Supply Register is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for Upminster infant School starting in September. You will support classroom teaching, provide one-to-one or small group assistance, and help implement personalised learning plans to meet each child’s needs.

Experience with SEND strategies and strong communication skills are desirable. NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning or CACHE qualifications are advantageous, with opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of SEND strategies and educational support techniques.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with learning, communication, and behavioural needs in line with their IEPs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting resources to meet diverse needs.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students requiring additional assistance.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social development.
  • Monitor and record student progress and share observations with teaching staff.
  • Support students with personal care, as required.
  • Assist with preparing classroom resources and maintaining a safe, organised learning environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and school activities as needed.
