Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: (M24)
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £83.40–£100.00 per day (depends on qualifications)
Age Group: 5–11 years (Key Stage 1 and 2)
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with additional needs to achieve their full potential in both academic and social development. This is a long-term role starting September 2025.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of special educational needs (including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and emotional/behavioural challenges)
  • Work closely with class teachers to implement personalised learning strategies
  • Adapt classroom materials and activities to suit individual learning styles and needs
  • Support children in building communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
  • Help with personal care and mobility where necessary, maintaining dignity and comfort
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Assist with classroom management and contribute to a positive learning atmosphere

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working with SEN children, preferably in a primary school setting
  • Background in care or support work is desirable
  • Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to adapt and respond calmly to challenging behaviour
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A full enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education)
