Location: Rotherham
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time


Do you have a passion for supporting young learners and creating a nurturing educational environment?If so, GSL Education are looking for a caringSEN Primary Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)to join a specialist primary school inRotherham.

As aPrimary Special Education Needs TA,you will be an essential part of the learning journey for children with additional needs. Collaborating with teachers, SEN professionals, and therapists, you will provide tailored support to help students develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a structured and inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • One-to-one and small group support, helping students engage with their learning and develop essential skills.
  • Implementing personalised learning plans, adapting teaching materials to meet each child’s unique requirements.
  • Encouraging social and emotional development, using strategies to promote confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Providing sensory and behavioural support, using de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Assisting with speech and language interventions, working alongside therapists to support children’s communication needs.
  • Helping with structured routines, ensuring a safe, consistent, and engaging learning experience.
  • Supporting personal care needs, including toileting and mobility assistance when required.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback, contributing to individual education plans (IEPs) and liaising with SEN professionals.

Requirements:

  • Having previous experience working with children with SEN in a primary school setting is desirable.
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Special Educational Needs Support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Have experience with alternative communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices (desirable).
  • Be familiar with positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Possess a patient, empathetic and proactive approach to working with children.
  • Have anupdated CV(covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and anenhanced DBSregistered to theupdate service(or be willing to apply for one).
