Job summary

Grange School is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 1 SEN to support pupils' learning, wellbeing, and development under supervision. The role focuses on helping pupils become happy, confident, and successful young people.

The position is permanent, 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days, with a starting salary of £22,730 (FTE £26,427, Grade 3). Experience in supporting learners and a commitment to safeguarding are desirable.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and child development and learning.
• Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or above.
• Works effectively as part of a team and maintains high professional standards.
• Tactful, diplomatic, and able to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
• Experience or interest in working with children with communication difficulties or complex learning needs.
• Clear and confident spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Support small groups of children and implement Individual Learning Plans.
• Assist with supervision during teacher absence (short periods).
• Provide feedback on pupil progress and maintain records.
• Ensure equal access to learning for all pupils.
• Participate in relevant training and development.
• Contribute to performance management and continuous improvement.
