Prospero Teaching is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs at a mainstream secondary school in North Manchester. Start date is October 2026 with end date July 2027. The role offers full-time, year-round work and a daily rate of £110 PAYE.

You'll gain hands-on experience with ASC, ADHD, dyslexia, and other needs, developing behaviour management and tailored learning strategies in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • A degree in any subject (Psychology, Education or related fields beneficial).
  • Strong interest in working with children with SEN / SEND.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Experience with children (voluntary, coaching, tutoring, care work) is advantageous.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support or small group interventions for students with SEN.
  • Assisting in delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Supporting students with literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Helping manage behaviour and engagement in a positive, proactive way.
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils to boost confidence and independence.
  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
