Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs across a mainstream secondary school in North Manchester. The role is full-time, for the full academic year starting October 2026, with a July 2027 end date.

You will work with pupils with ASC, ADHD, and other needs, gaining valuable classroom experience, building behaviour management skills, and making a meaningful difference in students’ lives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in any subject (Psychology, Education or related fields beneficial).
  • Experience with children (voluntary, coaching, tutoring, care work) advantageous.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support or small group interventions for students with SEN.
  • Assisting in delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Supporting students with literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Helping manage behaviour and engagement in a positive, proactive way.
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils to boost confidence and independence.
  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
