Job summary

S.N.G HEALTHCARE LIMITED is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant in Southampton. The role is full-time, permanent, term-time only, with a salary of £23,000–£26,000 per year and 40 hours per week.

Work primarily with pupils under guidance of qualified teachers to support learning, behaviour, and safeguarding in a welcoming school environment. The position involves Monday to Friday shifts aligned with the school day, with opportunities for professional development and induction training.

Qualifications

  • Passion for supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational, residential, care or similar setting.
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, professional and well-organised approach to work.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to support pupils with learning, behaviour and emotional needs.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to encourage confidence, engagement and independence in pupils.
  • A motivated, flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing, working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Support individuals and small groups to access learning effectively, encourage engagement, confidence and independence, and help maintain a safe, structured and positive classroom environment.
  • Contribute to behaviour management, classroom organisation and safeguarding, while acting as a positive role model and supporting the school's ethos, values and overall aims.
  • Collaborate with teachers and colleagues, participate in meetings and training, and contribute to ongoing school improvement and development initiatives.
