Job summary

Philosophy Education is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs in primary settings in Harlow. Roles cover EYFS, KS1, and KS2 with 1+ year experience; DBS check preferred. Immediate or September 2026 starts, full-time, long-term opportunities in welcoming schools.

The role involves 1:1 support, small group interventions, and assisting with ASD, ADHD, and language needs, while contributing to positive learning and emotional development.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year's experience working with children.
• Experience within a school, nursery, childcare, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar setting.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, resilient, and proactive attitude.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Supporting small groups of children with additional learning needs.
• Assisting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, and Learning Difficulties.
• Helping pupils access learning activities within the classroom.
• Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation.
• Building positive relationships to promote confidence and independence.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Supporting children during lessons, break times, and educational activities.
