Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with additional needs in Sunderland, spanning KS3 to KS4. This long-term role offers the potential for permanent opportunities and requires a patient, adaptable approach.

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sunderland
Start Date: September
Salary: £95 – £110 per day

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs?

Do you have experience supporting students with autism, ADHD or SEMH needs?

Are you patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with secondary school students?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with secondary schools in Sunderland that provide supportive and inclusive learning environments for students across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4. The schools are committed to helping young people with additional needs engage with their education and reach their full potential.

We are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant for long-term roles, with permanent opportunities available. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support students with a range of needs including autism / ASD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder / ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs, helping them access learning, manage their individual needs and engage positively within the classroom.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
  • Experience working with autism / ASD, ADHD and/or SEMH needs
  • Experience supporting students across KS3 and KS4 is desirable
  • A patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A positive and adaptable attitude
