Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with SEND in the Bolton area. You will provide high-needs SEN support in and out of the classroom, focusing on autism and ADHD, and work with SEND plans and progress boards.

You will collaborate with teachers and external agencies, building strong relationships with pupils and families while adapting activities to individual needs and promoting an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience working with children with SEN.
• Has a good understanding of autism and ADHD.
• Patient, caring, calm and consistent.
• Can build strong relationships with children.
• Confident adapting activities and approaches to individual needs.
• Can work independently while also being part of a wider team.
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting children.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-needs SEN support both in and outside of the classroom.
• Work closely with children with autism and ADHD using a nurturing approach.
• Support children with NBIW and next-step boards.
• Use brain breaks and sensory strategies to help regulation and engagement.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Adapt learning and activities to meet individual needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support, including working from individual workstations.
• Follow SENDCO plans and individual support strategies.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team.
• Liaise with families, SEND professionals and external agencies.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
