Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Bury, BL0 area. The role focuses on supporting children with SEND, especially autism and ADHD, and adapting learning to individual needs.

You will work with teachers, liaise with families, and provide 1:1 and small-group support in a dynamic environment. The position offers part-time and full-time hours from £14.25 per hour, with a commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience working with children with SEN.
• Has a good understanding of autism and ADHD.
• Is patient, caring, calm and consistent.
• Can build strong relationships with children.
• Is confident adapting learning to meet individual needs.
• Is passionate about helping children reach their potential.
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable; relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-needs SEN support both in and outside of the classroom.
• Support children with autism and ADHD.
• Use NBIW and next-step boards.
• Provide brain breaks and sensory strategies.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Adapt learning and activities to meet individual needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
• Support children working at their own individual workstations.
• Follow SENDCO plans and individual support strategies.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team.
• Liaise with families and external agencies.
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement with learning.
