Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Bolton school (BL6). You will provide high-needs SEN support, especially for children with autism and ADHD, and work closely with teachers and families to implement SENDCO plans and strategies.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, adapting activities to individual needs, and using sensory strategies to help learners engage and regulate.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEN.
  • Experience supporting high-needs pupils.
  • Understanding autism and ADHD.
  • Patient, caring and calm.
  • Able to adapt learning to individual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-needs SEN support both in and outside of the classroom
  • Work closely with children with autism and ADHD, using an understanding and nurturing approach
  • Support children with NBIW and next-step boards
  • Use brain breaks and sensory strategies to help children regulate and engage with learning
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Adapt learning and activities to meet individual children's needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support, including working from individual workstations
  • Follow SENDCO plans and individual support strategies
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider school team
  • Liaise with families, SEND professionals and external agencies
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
