Job summary

Olympus School in South Croydon is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join Horizon Care and Education.

You will support students aged 11-19 with Special Educational Needs, helping them access a broad curriculum, work 1:1 and in small groups, and develop social and learning skills in a calm, structured environment.

The role offers full-time hours, with a supportive team in a peaceful campus on Croydon outskirts, and opportunities to contribute to a nurturing educational setting.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies
• Grade C or above GCSE in English and Math, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification
• Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification

Responsibilities

• Assisting students in their educational and social development.
• Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
• Help to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
• Support teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
• Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn.
