Randstad Education Leeds is partnering with a Barnsley primary school to recruit compassionate 1:1 support staff for pupils with SEND. The role starts this September in a welcoming, nurturing environment where every small step is celebrated.

You will provide tailored support, implement IEPs with the class teacher, adapt resources, and help pupils manage transitions, emotions, and social interactions, while working as part of a supportive school-based team.

Formación

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in schools or care settings.
  • Patient, warm and adaptable approach to diverse needs.
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.

Responsabilidades

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with diverse needs (ASD/ADHD/SEMH).
  • Implement and monitor IEPs in collaboration with the class teacher and SENDCo.
  • Adapt classroom resources and sensory tools to aid learning.
  • Support emotional regulation, social communication and confidence through positive reinforcement.
  • Supervise pupils during transitions, breaks and sensory breaks.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with diverse needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, or SEMH.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) in close collaboration with the class teacher and SENDCo.
  • Assist in adapting classroom resources and sensory tools to make learning fully accessible.
  • Support emotional regulation, social communication, and confidence through positive reinforcement.
  • Assist with pupil supervision during movement transitions, break times, and sensory breaks.
Requirements for the Role
  • Practical experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEND) in school or care settings.
  • A patient, warm, and highly adaptable approach to managing varied sensory and behavioral needs.
  • Good foundational qualifications (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English Language and Mathematics).
  • A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness for one).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Eligible to work in the UK without Sponsorship
