Job summary

Positive Futures Recruitment Ltd is seeking Teaching Assistants for a brand new specialist school opening in January 2027 in Backwell. This permanent, full-time role with 40 hours per week (term time only) supports pupils with ASD and SEMH.

You will work closely with the Class Teacher to create a caring, structured environment, assist with learning activities, personal care when needed, and provide feedback on pupil progress.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths & English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2).
• Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or willingness to work towards).

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning activities and reinforce concepts taught by the teacher.
• Promote positive behaviour and adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
• Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing and eating when required.
• Encourage independence, confidence and personal development.
• Provide clear, accurate feedback on pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Help prepare learning resources and contribute to lesson planning and evaluation.
