Job summary

A brand new specialist school is opening in January 2027 in Backwell, England, seeking Teaching Assistants to support pupils aged 519 with ASD and SEMH needs. You will work closely with the Class Teacher to create a caring, structured, stimulating environment where every learner can thrive.

Role focuses on supporting learning, wellbeing and personal development, with duties spanning planning assistance, feedback, and resource preparation within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths & English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2).
• Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or willingness to work towards).
• Confident ICT skills and a collaborative working style.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning activities and reinforce concepts taught by the teacher.
• Promote positive behaviour and adapt approach to meet individual needs.
• Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing and eating when required.
• Encourage independence, confidence and personal development.
• Provide clear, accurate feedback on pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Help prepare learning resources and contribute to lesson planning and evaluation.
