Job summary

Positive Futures Recruitment Ltd is recruiting Teaching Assistants for a brand new specialist school opening in January 2027 in Backwell. The school will support pupils aged 519 with ASD and SEMH needs in a nurturing environment with a capacity for 96 learners.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support learning, wellbeing and personal development, working closely with the Class Teacher to create a structured, caring environment and provide feedback on pupil progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at least at Functional Skills Level 2.
• Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools or willingness to work towards.
• Commitment to a child-centred, inclusive approach.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning activities and reinforce concepts taught by the teacher.
• Promote positive behaviour and adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
• Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing and eating when required.
• Encourage independence, confidence and personal development.
• Provide clear, accurate feedback on pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Help prepare learning resources and contribute to lesson planning and evaluation.

Teaching Assistant

Location: Backwell Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only Salary: £22,996 £25,068 (Actual, dependent on experience & qualifications) Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

A brand new specialist school is opening its doors in January 2027, and are looking for a number of dedicated Teaching Assistants to help bring this exciting vision to life. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something genuinely transformative from day one.

The school will provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious environment for children and young people aged 519 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With capacity for 96 learners, the aim is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational setting where every pupil can thrive.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, youll play a vital role in supporting pupils learning, wellbeing and personal development.
