Job summary

The Primary First Trust Limited is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs at a school in Erith, Kent. You will work alongside teachers to help vulnerable learners stay focused and grow into confident, independent individuals.

The role covers 1:1 and small-group support, reading activities, and preparing learning spaces, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and inclusive practice. 39 weeks per year, term-time style arrangement.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with children and parents/carers.
• Flexibility to adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
• Trustworthy, energetic, well-organised and self-motivated with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Experience with primary curriculum would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils.
• Identify pupils needing extra support and work with staff to meet needs.
• Listen to children read, read to them, and bring stories to life.
• Prepare classrooms and spaces, create displays of children's work.
• Support pupils and promote positive behaviour, respond calmly to challenges.
• Offer emotional support and inform colleagues of concerns.
