Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs across primary and secondary settings in Newham. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, adapting approaches to individual learning needs and collaborating with teachers to deliver differentiated tasks.

The role is full-time and long-term with potential to become permanent, offering weekly pay, CPD and safeguarding training, plus dedicated consultant support to help you

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or transferable experience from education, care, youth work or similar settings.
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with different abilities and needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Confidence providing individual, small-group and classroom support.
  • Understanding of positive behaviour management and inclusive education.
  • Ability to follow guidance from teachers and SEN staff while using initiative.
  • Availability to commit to a full-time, long-term position.
  • DBS check: Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willing to complete a new check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Deliver small-group interventions to reinforce learning and engagement.
  • Support teachers with classroom activities, lesson prep and differentiated tasks.
  • Adapt communication and support strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation throughout the school day.
  • Help pupils develop independence and practical classroom skills.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress; share observations with staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers and professionals to maintain consistent approaches.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment where pupils feel supported.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures to ensure a safe environment.
