Job summary

Philosophy Education, Ltd. is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a welcoming mainstream primary school in Hornchurch.

You will provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping access learning and develop social and emotional skills. Working with the class teacher and SENCO, you will implement personalised strategies, support behaviour, and collaborate with families and external professionals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience supporting children in a school.
• Experience with ASC/ADHD/SEMH (Special Educational Needs).
• Strong behaviour management.
• Ability to build positive relationships and act as a consistent role model.
• Calm, resilient and proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
• Build a trusting and consistent relationship with your assigned pupil.
• Act as a positive role model through calm, patient, and encouraging support.
• Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and related needs.
• Deliver personalised interventions and follow EHCP targets.
• Encourage emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Support learning across EYFS, KS1, KS2 as required.
• Work with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence, communication, and social skills.
