Job summary

Hays Education, partnering with welcoming primary schools in Sheldon (B26), is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for September 2026.

You may work closely with one pupil or support a small intervention group, adapting activities for ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, following individual support plans, and reporting progress to teachers and SENCOs. There are full-time and part-time roles across the academic year, with competitive pay and ongoing CPD.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with additional needs in school or similar setting.
• Patience, empathy and a calm approach to work with pupils.
• Ability to follow individual support plans and guidance from school staff.
• Willingness to help every pupil feel included and succeed.
• Relevant qualification is desirable, not essential.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with pupils with additional needs.
• Adapt activities for ASD/ADHD and speech and language needs.
• Use agreed strategies to support engagement and behaviour.
• Help pupils develop independence and confidence.
• Share progress observations with teachers and SENCOs; contribute to a calm, inclusive classroom.
