Job summary

Hays Education is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for welcoming primary schools across Yardley (B25) for September 2026. You may support one pupil throughout the school day, or lead focused activities with a small group to help pupils access learning.

You could be a strong fit if you have supported children with SEN in a school or similar setting and bring patience, empathy and resilience to your work. Full-time and part-time roles are available.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in school, nursery, care or similar setting.
• Patience, empathy and resilience in daily work.
• Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining routines and boundaries.
• Holding a relevant qualification is essential.
• Experience with personal care, behaviour support, Makaton or PECS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to help a pupil access learning.
• Support children with autism, ADHD and other needs with agreed strategies.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning activities.
• Help pupils develop independence, confidence and social skills.
• Share observations with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
