Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant for a brilliant three form-entry primary school in Kingston Upon Thames. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning and make progress both academically and socially.

The role is open to experienced SEN TAs, TAs, and Learning Support Assistants with term-time hours and a start in September 2026. This is a part-time position based in Kingston Upon Thames.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training desirable (training can be provided).

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
  • Assist with learning, behaviour support and classroom activities.
  • Support pupils with SEND including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant for a brilliant three form-entry primary school in Kingston Upon Thames. This wonderful primary school in Kingston Upon Thames is dedicated to supporting pupils with additional needs. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning and make progress both academically and socially.

The position is open to experienced SEN Teaching Assistants, Teaching Assistants, and Learning Support Assistants.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
  • Location – Kingston Upon Thames
  • Position – SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Type of work – Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, assisting with learning, behaviour support, and classroom activities
  • Position start date – September 2026
  • Full time/part time – Part time
  • Rate of pay – GBP100 - GBP115 per day (depending on experience)
  • Hours – 8:30am - 3:45pm, Monday to Wednesday (term time only)
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs is desirable.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued within the last year is desirable (training can be provided where required).
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant, SEN, Childcare, or Education qualification is desirable but not essential.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years.
