Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting for a dedicated SEN TA to join a supportive school in Carshalton, South London, starting as soon as possible. The role involves 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEN, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH, with a focus on helping learners access the curriculum.

You will work closely with teachers and other staff in a nurturing, structured environment, building positive relationships, supporting EHCP outcomes and promoting emotional regulation and independence.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Experience supporting ASC, ADHD, SEMH or additional learning needs.
• Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with emotional regulation and engagement.
• An understanding of different communication and sensory needs.
• Ability to adapt activities to individual pupils.
• Understanding of EHCPs and personalised support.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Reliable, proactive and flexible attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group SEN support.
• Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Help pupils access classroom activities and learning.
• Adapt resources and activities to individual needs.
• Support pupils with communication and social interaction.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and life skills.
• Support individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes.
• Assist teachers with delivering personalised learning activities.
• Provide reassurance and support to pupils who may experience anxiety or difficulty with changes to routine.
• Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress.
• Create a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise the wellbeing of every pupil.
