Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Carshalton, South London, starting as soon as possible. You will support pupils with additional learning needs in classroom and 1:1 settings, helping them access learning and stay engaged throughout the day.

The role offers competitive daily pay of £90-£120, PAYE payroll, and a chance to contribute to pupils' progress while working with experienced staff.

Qualifications

• School-based or SEN experience highly desirable.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
• Patient, calm and supportive approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with learning, engagement and behaviour.
• Ability to provide effective 1:1 and small-group support.
• Follow individual support strategies and learning plans.
• Understanding safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• Reliable, flexible and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and 1:1 support for pupils with SEN.
• Support pupils with learning activities and classroom engagement.
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Help pupils develop their confidence and independence.
• Support pupils with communication and social interaction.
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver individualised support.
• Assist with small-group interventions where required.
• Monitor pupils' engagement and progress.
• Follow individual support plans and strategies.
• Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise pupils' wellbeing at all times.
