Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Hourly Rate: £13.58 – £15.00 (dependent on experience)

We are working on behalf of a specialist school in York that provides high-quality education for secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, including learning difficulties and complex communication needs. The school is known for its inclusive and supportive ethos, offering students a safe and structured environment where they can grow in confidence and independence.
We are looking to appoint a compassionate and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team, supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and within small group settings. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact by helping young people with additional needs achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate resilience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning and emotional development. Experience working with EHCPs, autism, or communication needs would be beneficial, though not essential.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the learning, communication, and emotional needs of a pupil on a 1:1 basis
• Assisting the class teacher and SENCo in delivering personalised learning strategies
• Encouraging the development of independence, life skills, and positive interactions
• Providing a consistent and supportive presence throughout the school day
