Teaching Personnel offers a range of SEN Teaching Assistant roles across Dorset, each tailored to support students with Special Educational Needs in various educational settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities
  • Implementation of IEPs: Assist in the development and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), adapting teaching materials and strategies to meet each student's specific needs
  • Behaviour and Emotional Support: Support students in managing behaviour and developing social and emotional skills, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with teachers, Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), and other professionals to ensure cohesive support for students.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track student progress, document observations, and communicate effectively with parents and staff to ensure continuous support.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are typically required.
  • Relevant Experience: Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly valued.
  • Personal Attributes: Patience, empathy, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential.
