Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs in a range of supportive schools across the UK. This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30, with an hourly pay rate of 14.25–16.68. DBS checks are required or in process.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, assisting teachers to deliver engaging activities and fostering a safe, inclusive learning environment for children with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and learning needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, ASC, ADHD or behavioural needs desirable.
  • Patience, empathy and adaptability.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils one-on-one and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
  • Encourage social, emotional and academic development.
  • Support pupils with additional behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) reach their full potential.

We are looking for enthusiastic and resilient individuals who can provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), communication difficulties, and learning disabilities.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Encourage social, emotional, and academic development
  • Support pupils with additional behavioural and emotional needs
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from candidates who:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people
  • Have experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or behavioural needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Are patient, empathetic, and adaptable
  • Have strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Are passionate about making a difference in education
  • Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or are willing to apply for one
