Do you have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs?

GSL Education are seeking an empathetic, proactive, and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) for a full-time, permanent position at a client school in Wareham.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a variety of special educational needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Working closely with teaching staff and SEN specialists, you will help students access learning and develop their social and emotional skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

SEN TA Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with identified SEN
  • Assist in planning and delivering tailored interventions based on students’ needs
  • Support students in developing confidence, independence, and resilience
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement support plans
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment
  • Monitor and report on student progress, engagement, and wellbeing
  • Encourage a positive attitude to learning through patience and praise

What we need from an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistant or related qualification preferred
  • A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field
  • A compassionate, patient, and flexible attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
