Job summary

Academics is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in Handsworth and surrounding areas. The role covers day-to-day supply, short-term bookings and long-term placements.

You will run 1-to-1 sessions, aid learning, communication and social skills, and work with the SENDCO and teachers to implement tailored plans. Some roles may involve personal care support, requiring patience and compassion.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS (on the update service).
  • Willingness to complete relevant training when needed.
  • Ability to assist with personal care if required.

We are currently seeking a number of dedicated and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work in our schools that are based across Handsworth and surrounding areas. The chosen candidates will have the opportunity to cover day-to-day supply, short-term bookings and long-term roles.

  • The role may include assisting with personal care, therefore candidates must be able to support the pupils personal care needs with patience and compassion
Requirements
  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS (must be on the update service)
  • Has relevant qualifications or experience
  • Willingness to complete relevant training continually when needed
