Job description

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Northamptonshire, NN12
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Daily Rate: £90+ per day

We are seeking a dedicated full-time Teaching Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Towcester, starting in May 2024. Please see further information below:

This independent day school caters to children aged 8 to 18 who are on the Autism Spectrum and may face additional challenges. It offers a tailored, stimulating, and supportive curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Senior Learning Support Assistants and Teachers in preparing tailored resources that align with individual learning plans.
  • Delivering one-to-one support during skills-based sessions under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Collaborating with the class teacher to monitor and document student progress using evidence-based methods.
  • Supporting students in understanding their learning objectives, practicing new skills, and encouraging independence wherever possible.
  • Contributing to the overall support framework necessary for student wellbeing, engagement, and learning participation.
  • Adhering to and actively following Safeguarding procedures and policies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at a minimum.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a school setting is preferred but not required. This position includes some additional duties beyond a standard Teaching Assistant role.

Key Attributes and Skills:

  • Ability to act on your own initiative.
  • Strong organisational abilities to handle daily responsibilities effectively.
  • Capacity to manage and prioritise various tasks.
