Job Opportunity: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant | Primary School - Kings Langley | ASAP Start

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them thrive in a nurturing environment? Supply Desk is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic primary school in Kings Langley.

This is a full-time role starting ASAP, offering the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

Located in the heart of Kings Langley, this inclusive primary school is committed to creating a supportive environment where every child can reach their full potential. The school focuses on promoting individual growth and offering tailored support for students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.

  1. Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and build key skills.
  2. Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and support Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  3. Adapt lesson materials and classroom activities to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
  4. Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development, using positive reinforcement and managing challenging behaviour.
  5. Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and valued.
  6. Foster students' independence and encourage active participation in classroom activities.
  7. Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure consistent support and share progress updates.
  8. Be an active part of the school's wider team, contributing to meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Minimum requirements:

  1. Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in a primary school setting.
  2. Patience, empathy, and passion for helping children with diverse learning needs.
  3. Good understanding of special educational needs and how to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  4. Ability to maintain a calm, professional approach to managing challenging behaviours.
  5. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  6. Proactivity, adaptability, and commitment to professional development.
  7. Willingness to obtain or hold an enhanced DBS check.
