Job summary

Academics Educational Recruitment are seeking a caring and patient 1:1 Support Assistant for a Year 1 pupil with Autism and mild learning difficulties in Todmorden, starting from September. This full-time role focuses on emotional wellbeing, learning support, and fostering independence within a welcoming primary school environment.

You will provide individualised support, respond to episodes of partial seizures when needed, and help the pupil feel safe, settled and confident in school life.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in school or care settings.
  • Patient, compassionate and emotionally reassuring.
  • Ability to support learning and development of a Year 1 pupil.

Responsibilities

  • Support emotional wellbeing and reassurance for the pupil.
  • Help the pupil feel safe, settled and confident in the school environment.
  • Support her learning and development and provide learning support when required.
  • Encourage independence and positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Offer calm, reassuring support after episodes of partial seizures.

Full-Time

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide individualised support to a Year 1-aged girl who has Autism and mild learning difficulties.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The successful candidate will ideally have experience supporting children with SEN, either:

  • Within a school or education setting
  • In a care/support environment
  • Or through relevant personal experience

Most importantly, you will be patient, compassionate, observant and emotionally reassuring, with a genuine desire to help a young child thrive.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
