Job summary

Zest Education in Telford are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs in a specialist school. This is a part-time role with flexible hours to suit you.

You will work with experienced teachers, help deliver tailored learning support, and encourage pupils to build confidence, independence, and a positive learning routine in a safe, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience preferred but not essential).
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Reliability and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Telford. This is a part‑time position with flexible working options, with the opportunity to increase your days for the right candidate.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, helping students with a range of additional needs to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe, structured and engaging setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with a variety of SEN needs in the classroom and during activities
  • Assist teachers with planning, adapting, and delivering tailored learning support
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support as required
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years
