Job summary

First for Education are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Telford, supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD and Challenging Behaviour.

This is a full-time, long-term role, working with pupils who require additional support with learning, communication and personal development. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO, access specialist training and CPD opportunities, and be part of a supportive team in a structured environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, ADHD and challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication, patience and resilience.
  • Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist with both learning activities and personal development.
  • Support pupils with communication, behaviour and engagement.
  • Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO and wider support staff.
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs.

Job title: SEN Teaching Assistant

First for Education are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Telford, supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD and Challenging Behaviour.

This is a full-time, long-term position, working with pupils who require additional support with learning, communication and personal development.

The school caters for pupils with a needs focused on SEMH and ADHD and associated needs and difficulties. They provide a highly supportive environment with experienced staff and access to specialist training. This is a role where you will find challenging behaviour and need thick skin, but the rewards can be incredible.

SEN Teaching Assistant role requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEN setting or working with
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, ADHD and typically challenging behaviours.
