Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is seeking motivated Teaching Assistants to support pupils aged 11-19 with SEND in a vibrant specialist setting in Tamworth.

You will work alongside experienced teachers, supporting learning inside and outside the classroom, building positive relationships and helping students achieve their individual goals. A Level 2 TA qualification and a DBS are desirable; flexible, regular and longer placements are available.

Qualifications

  • A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification is required.
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs is desirable.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils ages 11–19 with EHCPs inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, personalised and inclusive learning activities.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, communication and learning needs.
  • Promote independence, confidence and personal development.
  • Create a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team.
  • Encourage pupils to achieve their individual goals.

The Opportunity

Due to ongoing demand, the Trust is looking for multiple Teaching Assistants to provide support across the school. There are opportunities for:

  • Flexible day-to-day supply work#
  • Regular weekly work
  • Longer-term placements for those seeking greater consistency

You’ll be supporting pupils both in and outside of the classroom, working alongside experienced teachers and the wider school team to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a specialist SEND setting while developing your skills and making a meaningful difference to young people's lives.

Your Responsibilities
  • Support pupils ages from 11-19 with theie EHCP's

Essential Requirements
  • A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs is desirable
  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • The ability to provide a minimum of two years' employment and/or education references
  • At least one reference must comment on your experience and interaction when working with children or young people
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education
