Job summary

Smile Education, in partnership with the Endeavour Multi Academy Trust, seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil returning to school in Wolverhampton. The role is part-time, with potential to continue until July 2027, offering consistency for the pupil and the candidate.

The position is classroom-based and involves collaboration with the class teacher and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Recent experience supporting children with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
• Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable).
• Enhanced DBS check; Update Service preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Smile Education are proud to be working in partnership with the Endeavour Multi Academy Trust to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child returning to school on a full-time basis from the Autumn Term.

This is a Part-time position, with the potential to continue until July 2027, providing consistency and stability for both the pupil and the successful candidate.

Based in Wolverhampton, this school benefits from excellent transport links, making it easily accessible from Dudley, Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will provide consistent, individualised support to a pupil with highly complex additional needs, ensuring they can access learning in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.

The role will be classroom-based, working closely alongside the class teacher while taking responsibility for the child's day-to-day support.

About the Role

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Recent experience supporting children with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.


• A relevant Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable).


• Experience supporting children with complex needs.


• Previous experience delivering medical care is advantageous but not essential.


• Confidence working independently whilst also being an effective member of a wider classroom team.


• A patient, caring and flexible approach.


• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.


• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
