Job summary

Balfor Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist educational setting in Rochdale, supporting pupils aged 7 to 18 with needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLCN and behavioural challenges.

You will work closely with teachers, deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions, encourage positive behaviour, and help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence through engaging, personalised activities and learning resources.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C or above) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs in a UK educational setting.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS checks and right-to-work in the UK.
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils within the classroom and during other school activities.

Job description

Balfor Recruitment is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist educational setting in Rochdale.

This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people aged between 7 and 18 who have a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Behavioural and learning difficulties

The successful candidate will play an essential role in creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils within the classroom and during other school activities.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEND or behavioural needs.
  • Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Have a good understanding of behaviour management strategies.
  • Are passionate about making a difference in children's lives.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
Essential Requirements
  • GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C or above) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs in a UK educational setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
  • A willingness to undertake additional training and professional development.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Recent references covering previous employment.
