Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – Preston, Lancashire
Pay: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Location: Various Primary and Secondary Schools across Preston
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? We are currently seeking enthusiastic and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of schools in the Preston area.

About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and behavioural challenges. Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals, you will help to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Support class teachers with classroom management and lesson delivery.
  • Promote positive behaviour and social development.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (in a school, care, or community setting).
  • A patient, calm, and empathetic nature.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate are desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
