Position: Teaching Assistant

Location: Oldham OL9

Position: Full-Time Teaching Assistant

Start Date: January 2025

Salary: GBP12.83 - GBP13.83 per hour

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you have the skills and enthusiasm to make a positive impact in a child's life? If so, we have an exciting teaching assistant opportunity for you!

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 5 pupil with ASD. This role is integral in helping the pupil thrive in their learning environment, ensuring they feel included and valued within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:
  1. Support a Year 5 pupil on a one-to-one basis, focusing on their communication, social, emotional, and academic needs.
  2. Utilise vibrant visual aids and resources, including flashcards, to enhance communication and learning.
  3. Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and pastoral team to develop and implement tailored learning strategies that cater to the pupil's individual needs.
  4. Foster a positive and loving relationship with the pupil, encouraging their social interactions and emotional well-being.
  5. Assist the pupil in staying on track with classroom activities while ensuring they feel included with their peers.
  6. Provide support in the sensory unit to help manage sensory needs and promote a calming learning environment.
Requirements of the Appointed Teaching Assistant:
  1. Experience working with children with ASD or similar special educational needs is highly desirable.
  2. Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, and the ability to use alternative communication methods effectively.
  3. A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to teaching and support.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SLT, and other support staff.
  5. A passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment.
