Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SLD, PMLD, autism, or complex care needs in relevant fields.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience when supporting children with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills; adaptable to individual pupils.
  • An Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SLD, PMLD, autism in tailoring approaches to individual needs.
  • Deliver 1:1 or small group interventions focused on personalised learning.
  • Assist teachers in planning and implementing inclusive lessons.
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, behavioural, and health needs using positive reinforcement and consistent strategies.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive peer interactions through tailored support.
  • Helping maintain a calm, safe, and structured classroom environment that promotes focus, engagement, and inclusion.

Contract: Full-time, long-term role with strong temp-to-perm potential

Hirecracker Education are working with a Special Educational Needs School in Northwich supporting children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), autism, and complex care needs. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team, providing personalised support to pupils to help them access learning, develop independence, and thrive in a safe and structured environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, autism, and complex care needs in the classroom, tailoring approaches to individual sensory, communication, and learning requirements

  • Assisting teachers in planning and implementing structured, accessible, and inclusive lessons
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, behavioural, and health needs using positive reinforcement and consistent strategies

  • Helping maintain a calm, safe, and structured classroom environment that promotes focus, engagement, and inclusion
