Job summary

GSL Education Kent is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role in Folkestone, Kent, starting ASAP. The position offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, with emphasis on supporting learners with autism, SEMH, communication challenges, and complex needs to help each pupil thrive in a safe, inclusive environment.

You will collaborate with teachers and therapists to guide students through academic and personal milestones, promoting independence and emotional resilience

Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting children with additional needs
• A calm, patient and empathetic personality
• Outstanding communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and behaviour management strategies
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or readiness to process one)

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group interventions throughout the day
• Guide pupils with sensory regulation, speech support and emotional well-being
• Implement therapeutic, low-arousal strategies to encourage positive behaviour
• Work alongside the lead teacher to maintain a welcoming, productive setting
• Promote self-sufficiency, social interaction and functional life skills
• Implement IEPs and EHCP guidance accurately
