A welcoming and diverse primary school in Newham is seeking a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is nurturing, resilient, and committed to helping every child thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO to implement EHCPs and differentiated learning strategies.
Foster emotional wellbeing and social development through a trauma-informed, child-centred approach.
Support behaviour management using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
Adapt classroom resources and learning environments to meet individual needs.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews and support plans.
Requirements:
At least 6 months of experience supporting children with SEN in a primary or specialist setting.
Familiarity with EHCPs, visual timetables, sensory circuits, or communication tools like PECs or Makaton.
A calm, empathetic, and proactive attitude.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
