Job summary

Wolborough Church of England Nursery and Primary School is hiring a SEN Teaching Assistant for a fixed-term post starting October 2026. The role is part-time, 19 hours per week over four days, paid at NJC Grade C (£13.92 per hour).

You will provide in-class support including tailored interventions for a pupil with complex educational needs under EHCP funding. The successful candidate will be nurturing, creative, and able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and families.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths to A-C or equivalent.
• Experience working with children with complex needs (SEN).
• Ability to work as part of a team with initiative and creativity.
• Strong communication with pupils, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support including tailored interventions for a pupil with complex needs.
• Support pupils with behaviour and learning using nurturing approaches.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement EHCP-funded interventions.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Fixed Term Temporary post to commence October 2026.

This is a fixed term appointment linked to EHCP funding for specific support for a pupil with complex educational needs. You will provide in class support including tailored interventions and we are looking to appoint an individual with a sensitive and nurturing approach. The successful applicant will need to be flexible, communicate effectively and think creatively.

We are looking for someone with a strong, sensitive and caring approach to children’s needs, who is able to be an effective communicator and think creatively. You will need to show a high degree of initiative and be solution focussed. It would be beneficial to have experience of working with children with complex needs.

• Have good English and Maths skills;

• Be willing to work as part of a team and have a good sense of humour;

• Be able to use your own initiative when required;

• Have experience in a similar role in a school;

• Have prior knowledge and experience of working with children with special educational needs;
