Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in High Wycombe. You will provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and reach their learning goals.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and parents to support pupil progression and wellbeing, adapting activities to individual needs and contributing to safeguarding and inclusive practice. This is a full‑time role with ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable; transferable experience considered.
  • Commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

  • Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment and follow safeguarding procedures.

Are you a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated SEN TA to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you'll provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs and help them develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning needs.
  • Assist teachers with planning and delivering engaging, inclusive learning activities.
  • Support pupils with their EHCP targets and individual learning plans where required.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, communication, and social development.
  • Use appropriate strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive behaviour within the classroom.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, support staff, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on pupils' progress and engagement.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable; however, candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
  • A patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A good understanding of SEN and inclusive learning practices.
  • Excellent teamwork and classroom support skills.
  • A commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
